Hi,
I just wanted to say Good Morning...I made it home safe...and it is cold as hell here! Well, when I got here it wasn't too bad but last night around midnight I went out to get something from my car and it was snowing...yes...snowing. Not horribly and didn't amount to anything, but it was a reminder that winter is coming.
We live pretty far up the South Hill, pretty much at the top of it and so we get these strong winds pretty constantly. So this morning when it was dancing around freezing and the wind was blowing, it was a little rough. I need Dad's remote control car so I can turn it on from my bedroom.
This week is going to be pretty packed. Since we had Monday off they compact the week in these first few days. So, yeah, we get the day off on Monday but the work is made up still. Thursday night I am helping in throwing this huge debate between Professor Engelken and Professor DeWolf on the constitutionality of gay marriage. Three groups are throwing it...Jill's group the GSA-Outlaws, a very conservative group on campus the Federalist Society, and the group I'm Vice Chair of..the William O Douglas committee. We were asked to help out because we have experience throwing big debates on campus, our group is constitutionally grounded/centered and (the real reason) we have a MASSIVE budget...a hair over 30,000 dollars. Compared to Jill's GayStraight Alliance that has in and around 400 dollars. lol So for them to get Azteca to cater the budget, they had to come talk to us :)
Professor Holland is moderating the debate. It is this Thursday at 6:30PM. Should be HEATED. Professor DeWolf is crazy when it comes to gays, abortion and god. He sort of looses organized rationale thought when these issues are discussed, so I am quietly hoping he looses it and veers off the legal theories and starts to get a little personal. He is a wonderful litigator, but Professor Engelken is really the best in the school and she will put him in his place if he wants to get personal and starts to talk about family values, christian values, etc. Ha! He loves his booze too, so when I go and get all the things for the professor's podiums....legal pad, pen, water, highlighter...I should grab him some whiskey too and see what happens!
We should have a few hundred show up. Expecting about 300 people from the law school, undergrad and the community. Since I am outgoing and .. well ... loud, I was asked to do a brief explanation of each group and introduce both debators and the moderator. So I have to write something up. Holland was a public defender in NYC for 12 years, I want to introduce him as 'former New York employee' ... I told him already, he laughed. But I respect him too much to make even an accepted 'buddy' type joke.
This Saturday morning my fraternity is doing a trip up to Green Bluff, which is the local harvest/nursery/pumpkin patch place. We're meeting early Saturday and caravaning up there to pick pumpkins for us and also for some more needy families. Which should be cool, surprise the kids of those families Saturday afternoon. :)
If you have any good pumpkin pie recipe or roasted pumpkin seed recipe, please pass it on!
Tonight and Tomorrow night I have my 'demo' hip hop classes at the GU gym. Free classes to advertise for my real classes that start next week. Should be fun, I did my best school work in undergrad when I was teaching. I think it keeps me busy and keeps me on high-productive mode. It lessons my free time, which makes me work harder and smarter. Unfortunately November is really hell month in law school, papers/motions starting to be due, finals looming. So, lets see if I can balance! It isn't that many hours, so I'll be fine!
One of the professors who are writing me a letter of recommendation sent me a copy of the letter she drafted and it was so good. :) I just am waiting for Holland's.
Oh yeah...so, when i was at Brie's I rented, from the issaquah blockbuster, this horrible movie called The Happening. Well, guess who left it in his bag and brought it back to Spokane!! So I'm going to have to ship it back to you guys so you can return it for me.

Crazy week.
MIDTERM went well I think, it was literally a whirlwind 50 minutes of typing as fast and furiously as possible. We had the question given to use two days before so there was no need to do any reading or planning..so it was 3, 2, 1, GO! typetypetypetype...
afterwards everyone looked like they had just had sex...hair all tussled, tired, drained, some were crying..
lol :)
Then did a bunch of work in the afternoon. I had go to the store, get some ribbon and make 100ish of these little ribbons for professors and students to wear showing you are open to talk about diversity with students if they are having issues.
That took awhile.
Got my hw done.... tomorrow night diversity potluck at professor engelken's house, last year the board, that myself nor my friend Jill were on, had the potluck and it was considered a success with about 30 students and professors showing up. This year I am in charge of it and we are at NEARLY 70 rsvps! :)
It is going to be huge and so much fun.
I'm excited, plus it doesn't cost me anything ... which is what I am looking for!! Just some work, organization and planning...but no cash.
Jill just texted me NOW, while I am in class .. because she is hitting up Walmart at 820AM picking up nametags for the potluck. It is my brilliant idea that, even though we are adults and this is an informal gathering, but it is my event and I am going to make people wear name tags. On the outside people always go, 'this is dumb' but deep down they are like 'thank god, I can't remember half these people's names'
:)
So I'll be the whipping boy if people have issues with it, but we are doing nametags and she just texted me asking "Would you be mad if they don't say HELLO MY NAME IS"
lol
am I that anal? lol I wrote back 'hahahaha, nonono' but seriously, would someone think that I would be upset? lol
POLITICS
I feel that right now the pendulum would normally start swinging the other way, been up in Obama's territory for too long and the natural swing back would be about now, but the McCain's campaign is being SOO poorly managed and the economy is also a factor as to why it is not swinging back.
a sign of the times!

blah
My Hump Day consists of an important and HARD MidTerm for my Federal Jurisdiction class! :(
Plus I have a shit ton of other stuff to do. I have to make a bunch of ribbons for professors and students to wear this thursday and friday. I have to make about 50 of them. I have my normal daily homework to do. Plus try and not cry after my midterm. lol
okay, I am off to bed, want to get some sleep .. even though it is 1AM, won't likely fall asleep for a little longer, and my alarm is set for 6AM.
This isn't healthy. lol
Thank Jesus for Caffeine :)

Sorry!
I'm sure all the readers of this Blog have been feeling like something has been missing since I haven't updated it since Thursday. I do apologize....
Lots of updates.
VICE PRES DEBATE:
I was thoroughly annoyed and frustrated that Sarah Palin couldn't answer a question directly and was even blunt enough to tell Gwen Ifle "I'm not going to answer the questions you want me too" I mean..c'mon, the debates are not supposed to be stump speeches, they are supposed to be a little challenging with the moderator making them answer a broad range of questions so we get an idea of who they are.
Biden was really strong and he knows these issues inside and out. Palin was so hollow and just reading talking points.
I think she looked very unprofessional and if someone acted like she did in a simple job interview she would not have received a call back.
WEEKEND:
I felt bad, my good friend Megan New speerheaded this night out for some of her friends' birthday. A pub crawl, this Friday night. I wanted to go, but I really couldn't afford it. I feel bad for not making it to Megan's event, BUT we're throwing an election party together..so Lord knows we will have time to make up the fun times I missed on Friday.
I got so much work done and still more work to do!
SCHOOL:
This Wednesday I have a midterm that counts for my grade in my class, Federal Jurisdiction. It is a very complex constitutional law class!
Tuesday I have a motion due in my writing class that I've been drafting this weekend. Using South Dakota law...which makes it even more fun
WORK:
This week I am sending out my resume, cover letter, etc this week to a bunch of firms on the west side of the mountains.
RANDOM:
I found four dollars in my pocket this morning. HORRAAY!! I hope it is going to be a good day :)
More later...need to pay attention in my Agency and Partnership class. Learning about how much authority an agent has to a 3rd party, OVER what was expressly given by the principal.
Lots of updates.

Hump Day
I had a great Hump Day...it was really long, classes are getting SUPER complicated! Who knew Patent law would be so complex :) Plus I revisited the ERIE Doctrine in my Federal Jurisdiction class...a little shout out to my law school friends, who the hell thought we would see this POS again!? When I saw Erie v. Pennsylvania Railway I almost fell off my chair. I thought I drank all that away after first semester finals last year!
BEYOND excited to watch the media paint Sarah Palin as the winner in the VP debate! No matter what happens, her bar is set so low my niece who is not yet ONE could pull herself over it.
Now, I have embedded this video from CBS news.....this is not some elitist, graduate educated, on track to get his doctorate, law school...blah blah blah. This is the facts of life. The fact that Sarah Palin could not name any other Supreme Court case but Roe v. Wade makes me want to PUKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sure anyone here has at least HEARD of the Brown v. Board of Education. The one that started the ball rolling to end state sponsored segregation. Obviously Palin wouldn't have mentioned this one because Couric asked her about a case that she disagreed with, and no one would disagree with this case...you would be a horrific bigot and racist to disagree with this case...oh, but what about one of the top five most famous cases PLESSY V. FERGUSON!! This was the DISGUSTING case that Brown v. Board overturned!!!
The fact that she would be a heart beat away from electing Supreme Court Justices and she couldn't pull Plessy out of her ass makes me want to cry!!!
Some Plessy info.... you should know this case if you are an American Citizen
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plessy_v._Ferguson
HERE IS THE INTERVIEW..
side note: I don't agree with Biden's take on the Roe v. Wade though, he goes down the privacy route, I'm more of an Equal Protection, 14th Amendment, undue burden on the female Roe v. Wade guy... anyway...watch and learn....well... listen at least
OKAY, GO TO THIS LINK INSTEAD, PUTTING THE VIDEO IN THE BLOG DIDN'T WORK...

Correction!
Bush won INDIANA not MISSOURI by over 20 percentage points last year.
McCain is only winning Indiana by 2.7 percentage points now.
hmmmm...weird.
Missouri was won by bush by about 6 percentage points
Missouri is held by McCain by only 2 percentage points.
Recent new polls have Obama taking over Ohio, Florida and North Carolina... all that Bush won last year, all that McCain was ahead in after the RNC.
Bush won North Carolina by almost 15 percentage points....Obama is ahead in that state in the recent polls.
interesting....

Work at Washington University
Work continues getting the venue prepped for the big VP debate tomorrow night, I am crazy excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Before you get all smitten with Palin, remember these fun facts
- Even in the specific instant that a 15 year old girl is raped and impregnated by her own father, she does not feel that an abortion should be allowed fo this girl NOT EVEN the morning after pill
- As Governor of Alaska, she would have made the 15 year old girl pay for her own rape kit
- She doesn't know what the Bush doctrine is.
- She believes that Homosexuals make the choice to be gay ... some sort of "check this box yes or this box no" type of decision ... but don't worry, she has a friend who chose to be gay for years, so she gets it.
- She believes the story of Noah's Ark literally and word for word.
- She has sad that humans and Dinosaurs coexisted 6,000 years ago. 65 million years after scientists say they went extinct.
PREDICTION: The press will claim she won the debate.....no matter what the substance of her argument is.

Tuesday, Hump Day's fourplay
Things were better today all around.
Market bounced back a tick, confident that the Conservative Republicans and Faaar Left Democrats will see the light and do what is right with the bill. The shit will hit the fan if they can't get it passed this Friday. Oh Lord! Hold on!!
I guess my Dad's nonchalant attitude when it comes to market proves to be a good one. Don't panic, ride it out, diversify your money as much as you can, don't do any knee jerk selling or trading. Oh well, my only real personal direct stake in the market are graduate school financial aid lenders! Lets hope they get their act together before I go knocking on their door for next year :)
Speaking of my Dad, he sent me a real cool email today that made me feel a lot better. That was really nice.
I really like my new Legal Writing professor Shelley, he is a cool cool guy! I like his style and while he is more laid back than my last professor, I am learning far more!
I came home this afternoon to do work here, instead of at school, and it was like 4:30 and OUT OF NOWHERE I just took this 45 minute nap. I was sitting there and was a little tired and next thing I know I wake up 45 minutes later..hmm! LOL thanks my roomie texted me to wake me up. haha
*side note* That really cool professor I wrote about yesterday, Mary Pat Treuthart, she just called me..checked in. I'm meeting her to go over stuff tomorrow at noon, so that is cool. Last year Professor Ballard called my cell after we bounced about 10 emails back and forth while she tried to explain a concept to me...she saw my number in my email signature and called me. haha, GU Law apparently is a full service institution! lol
The lady I met over at K&L Gates when I went as a representative for GU Law this summer sent me a list of the names of medium sized firms in the area that she knew personally. I got their contacts and will be sending them cover letters and resumes this week! *fingers crossed* I would like to get my job for next summer lined up before the end of October!!
EXCITED FOR...........
- Thursday VP Debate (did I mention I HATE Palin?)
- The new Oliver Stone movie W about GW Bushie
- Saturday night I'm going out to a nice fancy dinner with Professor Maurice and some of his more successful Spokane friends. He is my Agency and Partnership professor and we were talking about this and that and work and jobs and people in spokane, blah blah, and next thing you know he invited me out with a bunch of his friends this Saturday. So that should be really fun! Not sure the restaurant we're going to, but I went with him and a different group a few weeks ago and we went to this place called LUNA, AWESOME food! Thank God they paid because my Rack of Lamb and three cocktails were expensive. haha
NOT EXCITED FOR............
- The press saying Palin won the debate because she finished a sentence.
- Palin's pre-written zingers at Obama and Biden. They are so trite, like the one with her licking her finger and testing the way the winds are blowing during the Couric interview. ew, she is annoying!
Today's "polls of polls" has Obama ahead more so than even during the Democratic National Convention!
The fact that Missouri is now in play and McCain only has it by a small single digit number..between 3 and 5 percent is a bad sign. Bush won it by more than 20 percent! Obama is loosing none of Kerry's states and McCain is loosing some big Bush states.
This is going to be an exciting month!!!!
I love this shit.... love it!!!

bleh
So, today was a little rough.
Had a few things not go as planned and I took a little personal hit with each of them.
But had a good afternoon. Got some great school work done, dusted the entire house, vacuumed the entire house, ran and emptied the dishwasher and did this big project for the GU Law Florence Program. Actually, I'm really stoked with how good the project I did turned out! They are going to be really happy with me tomorrow.
:)
So things are looking better. Professor Mary Pat Treuthart was a savior for me today! She and I talked and she gave me some great advice and made me feel so much better.
Sorry that today's blog was so boring :(
The Market closed over 777 down! :(
Any other great news? :)
Biden/Palin debate this Thursday! I hope he smacks her upside her ignorant, racist, homophobic, anti-woman, uneducated face! :) Now I don't condone violence against women, but I'm convinced this whore is not a woman!
*sorry for the language, but...I've never hated a politician more than her...and THAT includes GW Bush!!!*
hate hate hate....
On a lighter note, I think I'm heading back to Seattle here in a few weeks! Four day weekend for me.... we have Monday off for some Gonzaga weird holiday reason.."founders day"??? oh well! LOL
Better post tomorrw, I promise!!!!

Sunday.
So, last night (Sat night) was fun...well, I should say yesterday afternoon.
Jill Duggan hosted a flip cup tournament in her backyard, where the grass is completely dead and it is affectionately referred to as the Dust Bowl. Flip cup is a relay race drinking game. You line your team up and each team member has a red cup in front of them. The red cup is filled to the first line with beer. (really not much beer at all, about one big swallows worth). They start and the first person drinks the beer, sets the red cup back on the edge of the table. They then try and flip the cup so that it lands upside down on the table.
It is hard the first few times, but if you've played it enough you start to learn your own little tricks. After the cup has landed upside down the next person goes. So you are on opposite sides of the opposing team and you race down the line. The last person to drink and flip, that team wins.
It is really fun because it is competitive, and unlike other drinking games it is not really about how much you can drink. The drinking is really a side note to the game, the flipping and speed aspects are what makes it fun.
We played a TON TONTON of games yesterday and afterwards most people were not even drunk. Well, let me rephrase, many many were but not from the game. From 'side drinking' and from drinking after the tournament was over.
It was such a blast, I was really good about not getting too drunk. My team sort of sucked, I got a ton of big buff guys on my team, we were team Testosterone and our nicknames were all Ball related...sweaty balls, huge balls, smooth sack..etc. :)
But I picked a team of big guys, but didn't think about ability, well the other four on the team sucked! I am pretty damn good and really couldn't have done any better, we came in either last or second to last. :(
After the tournament was over, we put the tables together and played a huge guys versus girls game. Was so much fun, the girls won the first game, but I think the guys dominated 12 wins to 0 wins after that first game.
Jill (the hostess) got a little drunk and she is so funny when she is drunk. You can see in the pictures after the second beer run jill took a little 'bath' in the kiddie/beer pool. She also went crazy and kicked over all the recycling bins full of the empty cans. Then proceeded to clean it up with a rake. :)
it was so much fun. I was home really early and sober. It was around 9PM. But was too tired to do anything and I'm getting sick and of course money is always a factor.
So I watched some TV and went to bed early. Woke up early as well and I'm doing homework and stuff like that around the house today!
Here are some pictures, I took 218 pictures! haha :)

Friday
So today has been great so far.
Met with the owner of the club we're doing the January Fundraiser at, he was awesome and SO incredibly helpful! Jill and I are pretty pumped.
Dean Earl Martin requested a meeting with me, I met him at 2PM, he gave me a 50 dollar gift card to Steelhead as a thank you for working so hard and being such a great ambassador for the Florence program. So that was really cool. We chatted for awhile.
Worked out.
Getting ready for the big PAD fraternity Fun Bus tonight. Getting some music mixed and burned for the night. Three bars, thirty law students, one bus w/ a keg....PARTY TIME! :)
Debates start in 1 1/2 hours...SO EXCITED!
I'll post my reactions when they are over

Tonight.
So some of you know my schedule .. but Thursday nights are my Friday nights, as I have no school on Friday.
Well, with this being my Friday night (as with my closest friends and my roommates) we normally dress up really nice and go to the fancy places downtown since there is no real crowd. Well, tonight my fraternity is doing their initiation for the new members. I should go to represent my class, but I need to give my wallet, my liver, and my body a break tonight. Because after initiation they are all going out for drinks. All my friends and roommates are going.
NOT ME! I'm staying in to watch the Office Premier and other shows I have tivo-ed, work on Monday's homework and draft a proposal for a club we are doing a fundraiser at in january, meeting with the club's owner tomorrow at noon!

Survived
I survived my closing statement.
Was so prepared, but when you're in that tiny stuffy room with the judges staring you down .. it can be rough :(
But I did pretty good ... 2 spots out 44 good? Not sure! LOL
will keep you posted

Closing Arguments
4 more hours.
I am prepared but it is still nerve racking. The judges are about 4 feet in front of you in a small conference room.
Again, the odds are slim to none... 44 intelligent law students for 2 spots.
Things I need to work on personally .... speak slowly and don't come across as flustered...IE take deep breaths.
Things I have going for me .... I'm personable and shouldn't have a problem connecting with the 'jury'.
Wish me luck and if you pray, pray for me :)

In my Agency class right now, excited and anxious for this afternoon's closing argument!
think of me at 3:10PM!

IDIOT!
Please watch until the end, this is what happens when the puppet's strings are cut and the puppet master isn't there writing her talking points.
She could possibly be second in command to the oldest elected President in the history of the US.
If this doesn't make you sleep uneasy, I'm not sure what could.

Pinch Me
I'm somewhat impressed with Bush's speech tonight. Not just because he didn't fall down and hit his head on the microphone, but because he communicated FAIRLY well!
ALSO, did you see Letterman rip on McCain tonight? I saw the east coast time, it was HILARIOUS!!!!
McCain canceled Letterman's show to go and 'save the economy' AKA 'save his campaign'
Letterman was ruthless, it was fantastic. :)

Fuckers
Republicans, Democrats, Independents.....
Clinton's policies to jam people into houses in 1999
The lack of regulations from the current administration
You can blame who you want, but the bottom line is pure disgusting GREED!
I hope all those CEOs that vote for republicans AND democrats get a huge foot up their ass and not a penny in their pocket after this is over.
Disgusting!

Tomorrow at 3PM I have an 8 minute closing argument I have to give as an 'audition' for the moot court team on campus. It is a criminal case involving the sale of drugs ... This is what I really enjoy (no, not drugs) but the opportunity to try and be persuasive on my feet with an audience!
I'M PUMPED.
nervous
but PUMPED!

Oh God
Seriously McCain!?
What is sickening is that he wants to postpone the debate until next week, the same night the idiot Sarah Palin was supposed to debate Biden, which would push that one further back .. so she can learn where Iran is located on a map and learn how to spell Iraq.
This stunt is so annoying and I am watching fox news right now and when Brit Hume's panel is even saying that this is incredibly transparently political.
I hate this ticket more and more and more every day!

Barbie Girl
Today in Intellectual Property class we got to listen to the Aqua song 'Barbie Girl' from years ago!
Remember that song? Totally poppy cheesy dance song.
ha, took me back to middle school.
Was funny to be sitting in a law class listening to that song :)

funny (in class)
My Agency & Partnership (corporations) Professor quoted Heidi Klum today when talking about scope of employment.
For instance, you're a driver for a company ... you make your delivery ... you stop by to see your mom on the way back to the company ... while backing out of our your mother's driveway you run over a neighbor boy ... can the neighbor's family sue the company since he was a driver using the company's truck?
Anyway, he was talking about "Scope of Employment" being inside the scope of employment or being outside the scope of employment and used the Project Runway Host's famous line "One day you're in and the next day you're out"
He credited her for the phrase.
funny.

Excited
I am pretty pumped for the Presidential Debates!
Starting this Friday night...the topic is supposed to be Foreign Policy..yeah right!
The economy will be brought up as much as Obama can squeeze it in there.
I am actually going to have to TIVO it. The fraternity I am in, Phi Alpha Delta, is having a big social event that night. I really really want to not go and sit at home and watch the debate, but one of roommates is the treasurer of PAD the other roommate is the social chair of PAD my good buddy Brian Bean is the Vice Justice of PAD and one of my best friends that I went to Europe with, Pat Walsh, is the Chief Justice of PAD. So, basically I have to go or I'll be excommunicated from the circle of friends!
Thank god for TIVO :)

Dork..but, interesting
In this case I'm reading Cardtoons, L.C. . Major League baseball Players Assoc. the court made an interesting comment on celebrities that I thought was interesting.
They said.
"celebrities are common points of reference for millions of individuals who may never interact with one another, but who share, by virtue of their participation in a mediated culture, a common experience and a collective memory.
Through their pervasive presence in the media, sports and entertainment celebrities come to symbolize certain ideas and values. Celebrities, then, are an important element of the shared communicative resources of our cultural domain"
Cardtoons, 95 F.3d at 972.
Thats giving Paris Hilton a lot of credit :)

Yes..no...no..Yes...no
I'm the Vice Chairman of the William O Douglas First Amendment Committee on campus and we are in the process of selecting the five new members from the incoming 1L class. We had 20 applicants all submit essays explaining their commitment to the First Amendment and also how they would contribute to the committee.
I have to read 20 and select 5 for selection into the committee....it is pretty tough, there are some really great essays! This incoming class can sure write, or maybe it is one of those things where those who took the time to write an essay to join a committee are probably the more skilled writers. Does that make sense? :)
Anyway, five more to go!

Free Music
On ITunes, this week's FREE single is a duet with a new artist, Ha-Ash, and Brandi Carlile called "Already Home".
A pretty awesome song for being free ... country sound. Sort of weird Ha-Ash would do a duet with Brandi, since Brandi's voice is far superior on the recording, lol.
But go get it, only free for a little bit.

48..well 46 state plan
Obama's 50 state plan has recently got a shock of reality and is being altered a little bit, according to a new Time magazine article.
After the choice of Palin two states fell off this 50 state plan, having all advertisements and ground workers pulled form the states...those were Alaska and North Dakota. He is also starting to do the same in Montana and Georgia. Sort of sad though, because I thought he had a chance of winning Georgia early on and after electing a Democrat as Governor and him giving a memorable speech at the DNC, that there would be a chance he could make it close in Montana.
There are advantages of keeping money and staff in states that you will likely lose, it causes the other side to also use up resources in the states that they should clinch. For instance, McCain ramped up efforts in California just last week, he likely won't win that 'purple' state (as the McCain camps calls it) but now Obama is going to have to dump more money than planned into a state he will likely win just to maintain the lead.
So, cross off Alaska, Montana, Georgia and North Dakota!

Tuesday Morning
Okay ... today's plans.
Get my intellectual property reading done before 11 (yeah right, she assigned like 38 pages!) then get my federal jurisdiction reading done before noon. Have a meeting for one of the groups I'm VP of at Noon.
from 1-2 work on Moot Court Trial Team closing statement audition.
2-3 Legal Writing class
3+ Gym
After that work on summer internship job opportunities, getting resumes and cover letter mailed out.

Good Dinner
Got in a late workout tonight, worked out with a friend who lifts a lot...so it was a lot of fun, I tend to work harder when someone is there to spot and to not let me quit early! :)
Came home cooked up some chicken with fajita seasoning on the stove top, combined it with some ceasar salad and some black beans and wrapped it up in these big wheat wraps.
It was awesome :)
Did some work for school related groups tonight. Feel good about that. Tired now, ready for bed!
Bill Clinton was on Letterman tonight. Interesting interview.
I'm showering in the morning.

MONDAY 9/22 GDTP
Today's Gallup Daily Tracking Poll (take it for what its worth)
Obama 48%
McCain 44%
My thoughts: While I think the accuracy of this poll can be strongly debated, it seems to be a decent indicator of the general feeling of the country. Obama getting a strong boost during the DNC. Then McCain over taking Obama for the first time with the announcement of Palin. Then the economy going in the shitter gave Obama a boost. Democrats tend to fair better in the polls when the economy is the issue...."it's the economy stupid".... So Obama was over 50% for only the second time this entire campaign last week. Now it is moderating a little. Was surprised to see the Palin bump drop as quick as it did. Thought it would ride at least into October.
Its sad, but its true...Obama camp is likely hoping for more bad economic news to keep the new guy looking like the better option.
But the repubs aren't guilt free, you know they loved the new Osama Bin Laden video the day before the 2004 election! As they tend to fair better when security is the issue.
New anti-Palin ad was taken off YouTube recently, was a very good ad that connected her with the group she and her husband were members of, the Alaskan Independence Party. Really interesting to see what their beliefs truly are, but the ad was removed because the creator of the ad (not affiliated with the obama camp) was getting threats and his family was being harassed.
Joe Biden had an interesting little flub today when he told Katie Couric that he thought the recent Obama ad against McCain was wrong and if he had anything to say about it, he wouldn't of aired it. But then it comes out that he had never seen the ad and was just reacting to what people in the news media told him about it. Now that he has seen it they released a statement saying he stands by it. lol...right :) Oh joe!!
Palin is meeting with seven world leaders at the UN here shortly. I hope someone tells her what the UN stands for before the meeting.

spokie weather.
Today's weather is really weird. Crisp & Cold...but the rain is very off and on. Comes sweeping through, but then nothing. It is like it is trying to start to be steady rain, but keeps failing.
oh well, it is good weather for sitting around doing homework.

Emmys
Did you watch the Emmys last night?
I thought they sucked! Having the five nominees for best reality competition hosts, host the show was a horrible idea. It was painful at times.
Glad Damages picked up some big awards! I can't wait for second season.
Don Rickles was hilarious! It was annoying how they were completely rushing through the last hour. GO GO GO GO GO.... oh well.

Fu**ed up!
A brand new Yahoo-Associated Press poll conducted by Stanford University shows that Obama could lose 6% points on election day simply for being African American!
Now that is fu**ed up!! Disagree with policy, but to lose points simply because off your race is really a sad comment on our messed up society. Disgusting

First real blog
So, it is Monday morning.
I'm about a month into my second year of Law school. Known as my 2L year.
The rumors about your second year being harder are VERY true! the first year of law school is hard because the style of teaching and source materials are COMPLETELY different than undergraduate studies, so it is a huge shift. Plus the scared factor combined with the fact that you can't really skip readings or glaze over it, you really have to read everything closely. another big shift from undergrad. So 1L year is all about making adjustments.
Second year is all about getting your ass kicked! They figure you know what you're doing, so lets do it.....
I have so much reading, it is insane. The PLUS side is that you get to pick classes your 2L year, so you get to take classes that are focused in areas you find interesting from professors you enjoy at times you chose.
So instead of these broad categories you learn in 1st year...Contracts, Property, etc. You get more specific classes like Agency & Partnership, Intellectual Property, etc.
I don't have a favorite class yet. I love this class called Federal Jurisdiction, my nerdy side really loves stuff like constitutional law...which is what this class is heavy in. It covers stuff like, what you need to have to bring a suit at the Federal level. Ways and reasons the courts can tell you to go home. lol I really like it! There is a doctrine called 'Mootness' and I was overheard by a friend saying "I love mootness!" and, well, i won't live that down. I definitely have a nerdy side :)
Things are really nuts besides school. I am vice president of two big groups on campus. We have some huge events coming up. In January we are doing a major fundraiser for the Spokane AIDS Network. In November we are bringing in Dean Kenneth Starr to speak to the school. Which is awesome because we are taking him out for a private dinner beforehand, so I'll get some face time with Kenn Starr! I'll wear my "Clinton 08" button!
I've also sort of been appointed as the spokesman for the Florence study abroad program. I pitched the program to the new 1L class at their orientation last month. I'm helping them with an information meeting this Wednesday. I'm also setting up a display in the main lobby of the school with pictures and other information to get people to sign up for it.
This past weekend my friends Marcus and Olin visited!! It was awesome to see both of them. I hadn't seen Olin in over a year because he was touring Asia and Eastern Europe for 9 months. It was great, like old times!
Friday I threw a house party here so my law friends could meet my seattle friends. It was a blast. We had drinking games outside...unfortunately the cops were called. HAHA. He just gave us a warning, but with a house full of law nerds I can tell you that the minute he left we got on the computer and found the ordinances for our community and found that, with the exception of Live music and/or DJ equipment, there are no noise restrictions until after 10PM! The cop was called at 9PM. 9Pm on a fricking Friday night. ugh
But, we were already pretty drunk so I just told everyone to leave. No need to get the cops to come back and give us a fine.
Saturday night I took the guys out to the new club Marquee, where my friend Pat has access to the VIP Bottle Service area of the club. So i wanted to show marcus and olin a nicer night, so we got dressed up with my roommates and met Pat and his wife there. It was really really fun! There is a dance floor..etc..so we all had fun.
Last night I took them as my guests to this Florence Study Abroad Program Reunion Dinner at one of the professors house. That was so much fun! Having wine and laughing about all the stories! I forgot a ton of the stories! really made me miss being there :) The Professor and director of the program approached me last week to come up with little awards for each person "Most likely to ..." etc. Like BJ's was "Most likely to wake up in a random piazza, on the steps of a church"
So, I said i would do it. I didn't really realize how much work it was going to be! haha, totally fine and had a good time doing it. But trying to be witty and creative with 16 students and 3 faculty members. She gave me a license to kill and said not to censor myself, but I am a very crass person :) So I filtered myself big time.
I went and got this stationary with red wine and vines all over it. Printed the awards on those then rolled them up like scrolls and tied the with a ribbon. Did this to each one. haha. I gave them their award and I went and bought 24 bottles of wine. So they got a bottle of red wine and their scroll/award.
We read them to each person, got some good laughs. So I was satisfied :)
okay, I have to get some work done today. I'll keep this updated a ton with pictures and stories!

New Blog
Okay, so after the success of the Euro Blog, I have been asked by a lot of people if I was going to have a new blog for the school year. Well I decided to start one, so those who cared could be updated on what is going on in Spokane and at Law School! Also for those who want a distraction from work can read this too.
:)
